Difference Between SCH 40S and SCH 40
Datetime: 2017-05-16    Visit: 145
Sch 40S is a stainless steel designation.
In smaller sizes the wall thickness is the same between e.g.40 / 40S, but schedule 10 and 5 are not normally made for carbon steel pipe, but are for stainless.
Stainless steel pipes sizes by schedule and other "standard" wall thicknesses are listed in ASME B 36.19, carbon steel pipes in ASM B 36.10M
So the wall thickness might vary depending on the size.
